This evening I was at Bassenthwaite and DMC charity trial ride at Thirleme in the Lake District.
Weather held for most of the event with only slight drizzle until nearer the end. A great evening and lots of fun, pity the light wasn’t better for the photography.

Photos from the Ennerdale Horseshoe Fell Race 4th June 2011 organised by the Cumberland Fell Runners Association.
My intention was to photograph the runners at todays event as the climbed the crest in the left hand side of the picture, with the stunning Buttermere valley vista behind. Sadly whilst waiting I heard a shout behind me and realised the first runner had gone through having somehow come via a different route. After a hasty retreat to another vantage point every single other runner came through my original location.
What a lovely day, sat in Ladore Wood above Ashness Bridge, with only the occasional shower brrr!
Despite my choosing a rather uncomfortable uphill section to photograph, many of the competitors smiled and even joked, appearing quite jovial despite their discomfort. I especially like Charlies Angels – girls you know who I mean!

Fantastic morning out photographing the Keswick Bike Sportive at the side of Crummock this morning.
Despite the very pessimistic weather forecast, other than the occasional strong gusts of wind and a brief shower the weather wasn’t too bad.

On Sunday the 8th of May we’ll be out photographing the Fred Whitton Challange, photos are now available in the gallery page. Each gallery is based on the number of the cyclist, except for the group photos and the cyclists who’s numbers we cannot read for whatever reason.
We hope you all had a good ride despite the horrendous weather that materialised.

With the vast number of outdoor events and activities taking place, particularly on public roads, here in the Lake District it’s great to see the wonderful service provided by the St Johns Ambulance volunteers always seem to be on hand.
More recently in the North West Lakes they’ve been using this customised mountain bike, which is fantastic asset. So if your watching an event, don’t forget to cheer these guys as well as the competitors.

Today we were out and about around Keswick and Derwentwater photographing the Keswick Half Marathon 2011, organised by Keswick Rugby Club. A fantastic day, which shows how fortunate we are to live and work in this beautiful part of the country.

Today I was back down at the Lorton Valley and on top of Newlands for the Townend Pushbike Challenge 2011.
This is a new event to in honour of Christian and Niggy Townend, two cyclists that died last year on a road accident. My mother worked as a District Nurse with the cyclists father Dr Townend and I was briefly a colleague in the Cockermouth Mountain Rescue many, many years ago.
Pictures are available to purchase from the gallery and a donation will be made from each picture sold towards the charity, Road Peace, the event raised money for.

On Saturday 23rd April 2011, I took a stroll up to the top of Robinson, in the Buttermere valley to await the runners taking part in both the Anniversary Waltz and the Teenager run.
The weather could best be described as mixed, whilst it stayed dry sadly the mist rolled in obscuring vision for large parts of the race.
